Sacred Cosmic Turtle — Inspired by a True Encounter

Across cultures, the turtle has always been a sacred emblem of wisdom, longevity, and protection. From the Native American legend of the World Turtle carrying the earth upon its back, to Eastern traditions that see the turtle as a bridge between heaven and earth, it remains a timeless guardian figure.

The inspiration for this artwork came from a personal encounter in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego. One evening, I found a turtle stranded in the middle of a busy intersection at a red light. I rescued it and released it at Lake Poway. Just days later, while hiking near the lake, I saw the same turtle again, waiting calmly, as if it recognized me. That moment felt mystical, like a sign that the bond between humans and nature runs deeper than we imagine.

This painting captures that encounter: the turtle transformed into a cosmic guardian, gliding through swirling waters that mirror the patterns of the universe, a reminder of resilience, memory, and the sacred energy that connects all living beings.
